69. William Vincent FOLLON1,2,5,12,27 was born on 31 January 1929 in
22 Dundonald Street, Dundee, Angus, SCOTLAND.5
He was also called Bill. He served in the military from 6 February
1947 to 12 September 1949.17,28 His period of NATIONAL SERVICE
occurred in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and was specified by the National Service
& Armed Forces Act. During that period he was stationed as follows:-
H.M.S. Royal Arthur: 2 June 1947 - 17 June 1947.
H.M.S. Gosling: 18 June 1947 - 23 July 1947.
H.M.S. Gamecock: 24 July 1947 - 1 March 1948.
H.M.S. Fulmar: 2 March 1948 - 11 April 1949.
H.M.S. Merlin: 12 April 1949 - 14 August 1949.
H.M.S. Daedalus: 15 August 1949 - 12 September 1949.
Released to Reserve 12 September 1949.
Air Mechanic 2nd. Class - 2 June 1947.
Air Mechanic (E) - 20 September 1948.
Air Mechanic 1st. Class - 2 September 1948.
On his final discharge his character during sevice was described as "Very
Good" and general efficiency in carrying out his duties as "Satisfactory".
Remarks in his "Employment and Ability Record" describe him as "A
good and reliable worker". He died on 8 October 2000 in Glenrothes, Fife, SCOTLAND.1
He was buried on 13 October 2000 in St. Drostan's Cemetery, Markinch, Fife,
SCOTLAND. He was a Roman Catholic. He lived at the following addresses

He served an apprenticeship as a Refrigerator Engineer with R. Kilpatrick &
Co. (Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) from 3 January 1945 until 24 August
1950. During this time he served a requirement in H.M. Forces on NATIONAL SERVICE.
When he left Kilpatrick's in September 1950 he worked for the National Cash Register
Company and then Veederoot. While he was working at Veederoot he studied at evening
classes at the Dundee Institute of Art and Technology where he gained an Ordinary
National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, which was endorsed for Production
Engineering, on 8 August 1960. From October 1960 until January 1994 he worked
as a Time Study Engineer with Hughes International (U.K.) Limited (which then
became Hughes Microelectronics Limited, Emihus, Hughes Microelectronics Europa
Limited and now Raytheon).

Ib) Adenocarcinoma of the Lung,

Arthurstone Terrace, Dundee, Angus, SCOTLAND.2
